#EndAlcAdInSport Campaign

sponsorship of sporting codes is a key marketing tactic of the alcohol industry to normalise alcohol consumption. Children are exposed to alcohol advertising and sponsorship as participants and spectators. Global evidence shows that children’s exposure to advertising influence early initiation to drinking and the amount of alcohol consumed at any one time, leading to binge drinking.  Together with organisations across all regions of the globe, SAAPA is advocating for the removal of advertising in sport.

SAAPA mobilised 50 people to attend the SA vs Aussie cricket match on the 24th March 2018 to raise awareness of this problem. – Images – cricket match
